Since 2006, the designers at GLD have been at the heart of the product development industry from concept through to completion.
Unlike most creative experts, GLD’s designers have worked in large consumer brands like Morphy Richards and Hozelock to name a few. We've been at the front line, experiencing the pains, frustrations and gains of bringing a number of products to market. We understand the political hurdles at companies, the sensitivity of costs and maximising tooling investment.
This provides us with a step above the rest, it allows us to deliver designs for our clients that can actually be made and an understanding of a client’s needs that not all designers have.
2006 - Working for the UK's biggest brands
Gaining design industry experience in one of the largest consumer product brands in the UK was invaluable. Ultimately, this provided the foundations for the knowledge to go it alone, and to provide the ambition to create GLD.
2009 - Working in the Far East
We began working with manufacturers in the Far East. Gaining a true understanding of the manufacturing process. Most importantly though, were the new relationships with clients that came to be longstanding clients of GLD.
2013 - Designing for every room in the home
We took the step from inside the home, to outside the home. We expanded our experience by designing products in the gardening sector... oh and we won GIMA awards (Garden Industry Manufactuer's Association)
2014 - The Heart of England
In 2014, a change of location to leafy Staffordshire in the UK. The heart of the country in beautiful surroundings, with good connections to the big cities and airports.
2019 - The year it all came together
By 2019, GLD grew from strength to strength, adding new expertise like brand analysis and opportunity, trends and market research to the skillset. Our designs were mixing with the big brands in the consumer product sector. We had began to hit our ultimate goal, to be recognised for:

Consumer Product Background
Spent several years in design teams for large manufacturers developing consumer products such as Morphy Richards and Hozelock
Award Winning Designs
Achieved Red Dot Design Awards for breakfast products at Morphy Richards and the Gardenex Export Achievement Award for the Hozelock Easy Drip System.
Far East Experience
Spent time in China working with manufacturers such as Donlim, Top Electric and Sun Cupid to deliver products
Maximising Tooling Investment
Designed products that maximised tooling investment by creating a number of SKU’s with minimal tools. This allows us to create a number of products at different price points
Plastic Moulding Experts
Excellent in plastic moulding design. Nothing is more satisfying than seeing our products out in the market and in people's homes in the UK, Europe and Australia.
